Nitin Ghangrekar
Nitin and his wife Snehal are both Pune based painters. Nitin began his artistic career by enrolling in the Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalya in Pune but he didn't complete his formal art education. This in no way hindered his growth as a creative artist. If at all it allowed him to take creative liberties and heed to his own calling.
Nitin already has shown a great virtuosity in the range of subjects he has handled. The Gurukul series, or the series depicting rural life in India he shows simplicity in handling the subjects. This he arrives at by studying every aspect possible for the same. For example the Gurukul series is a result of the artist travels and visits to various Gurukul system of education. He imbibed the essence of the schools; by doing a lot of sketches while there, and when he was back in his studio he didn't translate the sketches but interpreted them beautifully. Nitin has the ability to in deconstruct an idea and put it forward in simple and appealing format. Simplicity of concept and visual aesthetics is important to Nitin. Color too is used in a bold and expressionistic way.
